Aggreko Scotland Bespoke Fuel Storage Solution

OTS Group, a leading provider of premier fuel storage solutions, supported Aggreko Scotland by supplying a new fuel tank equipped with a quality pipework solution.

The company has the largest fleet of power, heating and cooling equipment in the UK. Its extensive range of generators is available for hire across mines, data centres, sporting events, manufacturing sites and entire cities.

Aggreko Scotland required a multi-compartment fuel tank. OTS Group designed and manufactured a bespoke fuel storage solution tailored to the company's needs, which included the requirement for three liquid types to be stored including diesel, coolant and hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO). Part of the paraffinic family of fuels, HVO is a fossil-free alternative to mineral diesel, resulting in up to 90% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. It delivers an efficient and reliable performance for vehicles and machinery across industries such as fleet vehicles, agricultural machinery, industrial tankers and construction vehicles.

As Aggreko Scotland provides fuel tank hire to different companies, the tanks must be emptied of any leftover fuel after each return. This meant that a dedicated reclaim compartment to handle fuel returning to the tank was also required. This compartment undergoes a conditioning process, where the fuel is circulated, filtered and purified to remove any water or particulates, transforming it into reusable fuel.

The intricate infrastructure associated with fuel tanks, pumps and fluid movement presented a need for a reliable pipework solution. The tanks required a system capable of withstanding harsh weather conditions and facilitating efficient fuel management.

Recognising the need for a robust and durable piping system, OTS Group opted for Geberit Mapress to address the challenges posed by the multi-compartment tank setup. The stainless steel composition of Mapress not only eliminated the need for painting, as stainless steel is resistant to corrosion so doesn't require additional coatings, but also ensured resilience in the harsh Scottish weather conditions. The press-fit system facilitated a quick and easy installation process, saving valuable time and money.

The Mapress piping system seamlessly serviced the three product lines - HVO, lube oil and coolant. The system extended down the rear of the tank, supplying the dispensers. Geberit Mapress played an important role in creating a comprehensive fuel distribution system.
